Gordon Moakes, the bassist of Bloc Party, before their first show on Sziget gave us some minutes and confirmed the news: they’ll have a year off.

You look really tired, is touring so exhausting?

Yes, I’m a little bit tired, we’ve been to a lot of places and I couldn’t have rest on the plane either.

How can you take time for your own life while your touring?

I got used to living on the road as much as I feel, that this is my life. It’s sometimes weird, when I’m home.

You founded Bloc Party on a festival, do you have any more special memories from these events?

I used to go to Glastonbury a lot, before they reorganized it. I also like Reading and I’m quite happy that we’re finally here. I’m really looking forward to the show.

It is said, that your third album, Intimacy was the weakest of all, what do you think about the bad reviews?

Are there bad reviews? I haven’t noticed. Or I don’t know, I always get confused because of the press. I think nobody should read it.

For Intimacy Remixed did you choose the artists?

We wanted different musicians, different styles. That’s how we chose Mogwai or Filthy Dukes for example.

The video for One More Chance is quite new, do you plan more videos?

I don’t think there’s going to be an other one. Armand Van Helden made one for Signs, it’s really brutal, you should see it!

Is it true that you will take some time off and leave Bloc Party for a while?

Yes, we’ll have one year or a little bit more break. Will see whether we come back at all. I will spend more time with my family, go on holiday and be lazy all the time.
