Sziget Eye in the heart of Budapest

A 65-meter ferris wheel peeks out in Budapest at Erzsébet Square, thanks to the cooperation of Sziget Cultural Management and the local government of the 5th district. The monumental structure will stand in the heart of the city for 6 weeks and awaits the visitors from 7th June. Afterwards it will move to Sziget Festival.

Against the water, for the island

As you may have heard already from the news, the countries by the River Danube are in a constant fight with the river. These days the Sziget crew is also working hard to protect the territory of the ‘Island of Freedom’ from the flood and we’re confident of winning this battle.

Sziget Wonderland program for Day 0

Sziget Festival, ‘The Island of Freedom’, is preparing a memorable Day 0 program for the arriving inhabitants. This time Sziget will become a „wonderland”, where the most well-known alternative rock band from Hungary, Quimby, will create a once in a lifetime atmosphere on the Main Stage with a special concert dreamt for Sziget only. Meanwhile the OTP Bank World Music Party Main Stage will host Muzsikás, an internationally well-known Hungarian folk band, who are celebrating their 40th anniversary this year with their guests and international stars.

Nick Cave and Franz Ferdinand confirmed

Recently several bands and artists have accepted visas to the Island of Freedom. Arriving straight to the Main Stage with their latest release are the legendary Nick Cave and his Bad Seeds, as well as the most popular alternative rock band of the 2000’s, Franz Ferdinand.
