The official payment device of Sziget Festivals in 2013 is the MasterCard® PayPass™ and Maestro® PayPass™ card, and all other PayPass-devices.
OTP Maestro PayPass Festivacard
The bank of Sziget Festivals OTP Bank issues unique festival-designed OTP Maestro® PayPass™ Festivalcards with your name, linked to your bank account. So you do not yet have an OTP Maestro PayPass Festivalcard? You should definitely get one, as you get to enter the festival without having to wait.
MasterCard PayPass or Maestro PayPass card
Of course, you can use all MasterCard PayPass or Maestro PayPass cards or any other PayPass-devices (watch, sticker, minicard) at all Sziget-events.
Besides MasterCard PayPass and Maestro PayPass cards, you can also use the chargable Metapay Festivalcards available at the venue.
PayPass™ is a contactless payment feature that provides cardholders with a simpler way to pay. MasterCard® PayPass™ or Maestro® PayPass™ is a special card with a built-in radio-transmitter, and you can make your purchases just by touching the reader terminal with it. The PayPass™-system is developed by MasterCard®, and is available nearly all over the world. All you have to do is touch the terminal, and then it makes a tweeting sound to let you know your payment was successful.
PayPass™-payments are not only fast, but also secure as the card remains in your hands all the way through. You can make your payments at any place with a reading terminal, and under 5000 HUF it only requires one touch, over 5000 HUF you need to enter your PIN-code.
Of course, you can pay by your MasterCard PayPass and Maestro PayPass-card at several stores, as the number of places suitable for this type of payment keeps growing all over the country and all over the world. Right now, most of these stores are in Budapest and Pécs.
There is a payment limit on single transactions, and contactless cards can only be used under a certain sum of money before customers are asked for their PIN. In Hungary, the limit is 5000 HUF. If you are willing to pay more than that, you need to enter your four-digit PIN-code.
You can use your MasterCard PayPass or Maestro PayPass cards for contactless payment over 5000 HUF too, but in that case you need to enter your four-digit PIN-code.
You only need to enter your four-digit PIN-code if your payment is over 5000 HUF, and if you are not using your card in a PayPass manner (for example when using the ATM).
Payment limits are country-typical, meaning that you do not need to enter your four-digit PIN-code when paying, thus you cannot modify this limit.
Automatically, only the merchant receives a voucher, but you can ask the cashier to give you a voucher of your payment.
Yes, the PayPass-function is only available with bank cards equipped with MasterCard PayPass or Maestro PayPass antennas.
What distance is needed for MasterCard PayPass or Maestro PayPass-cards to get in touch with the terminal?
MasterCard PayPass or Maestro PayPass cards can get in touch with the terminal from 4-6 centimters.
Should you lose your MasterCard PayPass or Maestro PayPass card or device, you need to block it immediately at the customer service of your bank!
Yes, PayPass-technology is already used in 37 countries of the world, and more than 350 000 places are suitable for this type of payment all over the world. .
OTP Maestro® PayPass™ Festivalcards – similarly to Metapay Festivalcards – can be carried from one event to the other, and can be used at all all our events. However, the important thing is that since PayPass cards are proper bankcards, you can make all the purchases with the money on your bankaccount, and you do not need to mess around with a prepaid card-system at any of the festivals. What is more, your purchases are not limited to festivals, but you can pay by your card at any domestic and international Maestro® and Maestro® PayPass™ reading terminals. In 2013, merchants, pubs, and restaurants linked to Sziget accept Metapay Festivalcards and PayPass™-cards issued by any bank, so you can buy any product or service with these cards at any Sziget events.

Metapay Festivalcard is the official, cashless currency of Sziget Cultural Management Ltd. for the summer-festival season. You can use your Festivalcard at OTP Club Gourmet Festival, VOLT, Heineken Balaton Sound and Sziget Festival.
In 2013, merchants, pubs, restaurants accept Metapay Festivalcards – and PayPass-cards issued by any bank – for payment; thus you can purchase all products and services by merchants linked to Sziget.
You can use the card at OTP Club Gourmet Festival, VOLT, Heineken Balaton Sound and Sziget Festivals. One Metapay Festivalcard is valid for all four festivals, however your balance cannot be transferred from one festival to the other. So if you have used your card at OTP Club Gourmet Festival, and have some money left on it, you are not able to spend it at VOLT Festival – you can, however, recharge your card to use it again.
Every visitor gets their card with their wristband, with a balance of zero Forints – so you do not have to pay for your first card. The card is activated after registration or after having recharged it for the first time.
In order to be able to use the card safely, you are encouraged to register it, as only previously registered cards can be blocked (for example if you lose the card), and you can only transfer your balanced from registeted cards to registered cards.
SMS registration is possible at the following number:+36 70 71 77 111, with the words FES and REG, your card number, and a four-diget PIN-code of your choice (for example: FES REG 123456789 1234)
The card can only be used for payment at the given event, throughout the duration of the event, in commercial units provided by Sziget Cultural Management Ltd.
Metapay Festivalcard is one of the payment-devices of OTP Klub Gourmet Festival, and VOLT, Heineken Balaton Sound and Sziget Festivals. Besides, you can pay by any PayPass-card issued by any bank. Merchants, however, do not accept cash. The last point where you can still pay in cash is at the ticket sales points at the entrance.
The balance of the Metapay Festivalcard can only be charged with a maximum of 240 000 HUF, however you can repeat the process as many times as you choose to. You can use cash or bankcards to transfer money to your Festivalcard. All you have to do is touch the cardreader terminal with your card upon payment. Check out the Festivalcard Charge Points on the map!
You can check your balance any time at the cardreader terminals of the merchants, or you can go to the Festivalcard Charge Points to check your balance.
You can only block registered cards, and you can only transfer your balance from one card to the other if both cards are registered.
- SMS: the words FES and STOP, and your 4-digit PIN-code is needed to be sent to the following phone number: +36 70 71 77 111 (for example FES STOP 1234)
- Online: www.metapay.hu/fesztivalkartya
You can sign up for a new card at the Festivalcard Charge Points, after having blocked your previous card. Your remaining balance will be transferred to your new card 30 minutes after blocking the previous card. The Festivalcard Helpdesk will help you with the process.
Should you find a lost card, please leave it at any of the Charge Points!
Are they going to ask for a PIN-code when I pay? What happens if I forget the code or if I can't remember it: is my card going to be banned then?
No, the unique PIN-code you gave throughout the registration process will only be asked for if you would like to disable your card. When paying, all you have to do is check if the number on the screen of the cardreader-terminal is correct, and then tap your card.
The Festivalcard Helpdesk will be there to help you 24 hours a day, and the same applies to hostesses and customer service representatives.
You can get your cash any time throughout the duration of the festival.
You can give a tip using your Metapay Festivalcard just as if you were paying in cash or by bankcard.
The balance of the card can always be recharged with a sum of your choice at any Top Up Points, but the maximum amount is 240 000 HUF. When recharging your card, you may use cash or bank/creditcard.
Of course you can, merchants are still required to give a VAT-invoice if requested by the customer, and they have to give a receipt after each purchase.
You can go back to the merchant you brought the item from, who will act according to the current laws, and return your money.
Is my Festivalcard going to be compatible with my Budapest Card (card issued by Sziget)? Am I going to be able to pay with it in the city, too?
No, Festivalcards are not compatible with Budapest Cards. Festivalcards can only be used at OTP Club Gourmet Festival, VOLT, Heineken Balaton Sound and Sziget festivals.
